Dynamics AX supports a reverse / inverted Bill of Materials (iBOM) production environment where yield-based planning and cycle times determine the number of wafer lot starts required. Once a wafer lot is started, it can be split up and recombined at any point in the production process, supporting scrapping, binning and grading, retaining the yield, lot lineage, and costing data throughout the entire operation. Electronic Subcontractor Integration
The originating company’s ability to track the operations of their Subcontractors is limited to the quality, frequency & granularity of the information their Subcontractors provide.
Often there is a bottleneck as the originating company must be able to receive subcontract data in various formats depending on their Subcontractor’s capabilities, validate it, & input it into their own systems for WIP tracking, planning & PO processing. As a manual process, this can be very time consuming, and prone to human error. Microsoft® Dynamics AX® for High Tech Industries simplifies & automates this transfer of data through the use of a data validation & mapping tool called the Supply Chain Interface (SCI), which supports multiple transaction types by vendor, including support for multiple input formats including XML, XLS, CSV, EDI, Flat files & RosettaNet PIPs. This allows companies to automatically update Dynamics AX with data from all their subcontractors, and process actual business transaction in the system, so that employees can focus on working the exceptions that were flagged during data validation & analyzing issues such as less than expected yields.
The SCI is part of the High Tech Industry solution. It comes with 10 pre-defined transaction sets: Import Sales Forecasts, Advanced shipment notifications for Purchase Orders & Sales Orders, PO Receipts, Lot Starts, Lot Moves & WIP completion data from subcontractors, sending Purchase Order Schedules to suppliers, updating Purchase Order Line delivery data & tracking location to location inventory moves. Production and Planning:
Start Lot - Reverse BOM concept with Start Wafer Lot as part of the production process. Select, reserve & optimally issue the component lot started on a production order. Calculates the expected quantity based on yields or net die per wafer lot.
“Cradle to Grave Lot Tracking” – Forward and backward lot trace / tracking.
Split Lot - Split a quantity off of a production order into a new production order, which can have a different routing, lot number & finished good part number. Connection between the original lot & split lot is maintained & included in the Lot Trace inquiry.
Assembly Lots - Start lot operation that can pull components from various lots simultaneously & track the forward & backward lot lineage of each unique component lot combination.
Merge/Combine Lots - Process to follow rules regarding valid lots that can be merged together.
Yields - Yields were added to the routing & incorporate yield calculation through-out the production process, used within Start Lot & Production flow. Yields are used to calculate estimated outs, quantity to start, costing & reporting.
Binning & Grading - Alternative parts can be received off of a Production Order.
Bucketed Build Plan - Reflects the timing & quantity of wafer lot starts, moves into assembly, test, finished goods, etc. Shows a time-phased view of finished products based on subcontractor starts, commitments, inventory & forecasts.
GANT Planning - Integrated order planning workbench with GANT analysis.
Approved Vendors Lists (AVL) & Approved Manufacturers Lists (AML) - reflecting customer qualification.
Sales Order Management:
Design Win, sampling, and opportunity tracking.
Royalty Tracking & Support - Support for selling items with royalty specific coding.
Final Customer Tracking - Track End Customer & Sold To customer.
Available to promise (ATP) / capable to promise (CTP) functionality based on unallocated wafer / die bank and WIP inventory, cycle times, and capacity.
On-time delivery (OTD) management - Enhanced sales order line with order change history, multiple date lines to track customer original and current request dates, vendor original and current commit date, and Dock Dates. Also includes rescheduling with reason codes.
